Thursday, December 1, 2016 — The renowned London-based International Banker magazine has named Johan Thijs “Banking CEO of the Year Western Europe” for 2016.
It has also honoured KBC Belgium with awards in the categories Best Innovation in Retail Banking Belgium and Private Bank of the Year Belgium for 2016.
The International Banker Awards are voted for by the magazine's readership and a jury comprising financial journalists. As regards the award for Johan Thijs, they refer to the sharp increase in KBC's share price since he became CEO four years ago. In addition, International Banker regards him as the personification of the values promoted by KBC, and also praises the company's trademark transparency.
