KBC Mobile ready for online Wero payments to businesses

KBC confirms its position as an innovative bank by taking another stride forward in the world of digital payments and enabling customers who use Wero in KBC Mobile to pay for purchases at merchants.

Wero offers a solution to the growing demand for fast, cross-border and user-friendly ways to make payment. In June 2024, KBC became the first Belgian bank to introduce Wero for person-to-person payments. Now the platform is being extended to include business transactions, ensuring that merchants and businesses can also benefit from a unified European payment solution.

Main benefits of Wero:

  • Integrated into KBC Mobile: Customers pay using their phones
  • European coverage: A single solution for paying merchants in various European countries
  • Instant payments: Money is credited to the payee in seconds
  • Simple and secure: Payment can be made using a recognisable Wero button in online shops or on digital invoices, or by scanning a QR code
  • Wero payments are based on money transfers: A card is no longer needed to make payments (having an account and using KBC Mobile is enough)

Tom Swerts, General Manager of Payments: ‘We’re seeing to it that our customers can also pay at merchants using Wero, the forward-looking European payment solution that connects merchants and customers across national borders. This is a major step towards simplicity, security and international accessibility for business payments.’
