Changes in Board of Directors KBC Group.

On the advice of the Nomination Committee, the Board of Directors has decided to propose to the General Meeting of Shareholders that Mr Marc De Ceuster be appointed as a new director on the Board of Directors of KBC Group. He will also become Chairman of the Audit Committee of KBC Group.

Likewise on the advice of the Nomination Committee, the Board of Directors has decided to propose to the same meeting that Mr Raf Sels be appointed as a new director on the Board of Directors of KBC Group.

They will replace Ms Katelijn Callewaert and Mr Marc Wittemans whose terms of office as directors on the Board of Directors of KBC Group are due to end.

The appointment of Mr De Ceuster and Mr Sels has been approved by the European Central Bank.

Born in Brecht (Belgium) on 1 December 1962, Mr Marc De Ceuster holds a PhD in Applied Economics and a Master’s Degree in Law. He is Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Antwerp. He lectures in the areas of Financial Economics, Derivative Financial Products and Risk Management and has written for several international journals. From 2001 to 2005, he was part-time Director of Risk Management at Deloitte before serving on the policy committee of the University of Antwerp Management School until 2008. From 2009 to 2015, he represented the Flemish Regional Government in the capacity of an observer on the Board of Directors and then as a director of KBC Group (and a member of the Audit Committee and Risk & Compliance Committee). From 2018 to 2019, he was an independent director of Arkea Direct Bank. At the end of 2019, he joined the Board of Directors of Almancora Beheersmaatschappij as an independent director, where he was first Chairman of the Audit Committee before becoming Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination Committee.

 

Born in Lommel (Belgium) on 12 January 1973, Mr Raf Sels holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management Accountancy & Tax from the Provinciaal Hoger Handelsinstituut Hasselt and is also a Certified Tax Accountant ITAA. He has also completed many additional management and financial training programmes. He started his career as a consultant in an accounting firm and joined SBB Accountants & Advisors in 1996, where he first held a number of commercial positions before becoming COO in 2011 and rising to the position of CEO in 2016. Since 2022, he has been CEO and Managing Director of Maatschappij voor Roerend Bezit van de Boerenbond (MRBB) BV. He is also a member of the boards of directors of several companies belonging to the MRBB group.
