PayPal integrated in KBC Mobile Banking. A first for Belgium.

KBC customers can consult their PayPal account via KBC Mobile since 25 September. In this way, KBC continues to play its role as a pioneer of multi-bank applications.

KBC played a pioneering role in the implementation of PSD2 and, in March 2018, was the first bank in Belgium to introduce multibanking in its mobile banking app by allowing customers to consult the balance of private and professional current accounts with other banks from KBC Mobile.

So far, 15,000 customers have linked an account with another bank to their KBC Mobile app.

Karin Van Hoecke, Director of the Digital Transformation Division Belgium KBC, explains this new integration: "Consulting and using all financial data in one app is a clear question from our customer and the integration of PayPal shows that we look beyond the traditional accounts. Customers can now not only follow the purchases they bought with the familiar KBC or Bancontact payment button, they can now also follow up on their PayPal account. We do this with great respect for the privacy of our customers and the protection of the data they entrust to us."

KBC Mobile integrates PayPal into the account overview

In a survey with KBC Mobile users, 33% said they would like to consult PayPal via KBC Mobile. The PSD2 guideline gives KBC the possibility to link this payment instrument.

The customer will find his PayPal account along with his other accounts and:

- has a real-time overview of his PayPal transactions;

- If the customer uploads a balance on his PayPal account, he also has an overview of the balance on his PayPal account.

Include accounts of other financial institutions in KBC Mobile

KBC Mobile users have had access to bank accounts with Argenta, Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis and ING since the end of March 2018. Other banks will be added as soon as they have taken the necessary technical steps to make the link possible. 15,000 customers have already made this link today and are able to

- Consult their account balance;

- View the payment history of the account;

- Make payments from this other account.
